Cable management is the cheapest upgrade that changes how a desk looks. Nothing here is technically complicated β the whole question is which format suits your desk, and how much of it you need.
Clamp-on trays need a desk edge and leave no marks. Screw-in ones hold more weight but drill your desk. Retractable and 'no-drilling' models are usually clamp-on.
Trays are sold by length, often as an adjustable range like 15.7"-31". Measure between your desk legs before ordering, since the tray must span them.
A sleeve bundles a group of cables into one soft tube. Clips hold single cables to a surface. Raceway is rigid PVC channel that hides a run along a wall or desk edge. Most desks want a sleeve plus a few clips.
Stick-on clips fall off warm or textured surfaces. Screw-fixed clips do not. If the desk is glass or lacquered, expect to re-stick them.
These are sold in packs of 5, 10, 50. A typical desk needs 6-10 clips. Buying 50 for a marginally better unit price is how you end up with 40 clips in a drawer.
PVC trunking used near power is often sold as flame-retardant. If it is carrying mains extension leads, that rating is worth having.
Cable Management under $50 currently run from $2.19 to $23.72, with most sitting around $4.93. Paying more inside that range usually buys better materials or an extra feature, not a fundamentally different product.
One thing worth knowing: the price shown on a listing is normally for its cheapest variant, while the photo often shows a higher-specified one. Select the option you actually want before judging the price.
Listing images often show a fully kitted desk when the item is a single tray, or a pack of three clips. The variant list is what you are buying.
Check the internal depth against your extension lead. Many trays are sized for cables only and will not close over a strip.
Some trays screw in, others use strong adhesive pads. Check the listing β adhesive works on smooth desks, but drilled mounts won't fall.
A standard tray holds 4-8 cables. Sleeves pack 5-8 into one zippered bundle. Measure your cable count before buying.
